Bath Road Market (formerly Robert Young's)

"I was fascinated to find and read the piece about Naunton Nurseries at 252 Bath Road, Cheltenham and its owner Robert Young. In 1960 my late father bought a 2 year old Wolseley 6/90 from Steels of Cheltenham, the original owner was Robert Young and I have a letter from him to my father explaining why he sold the car, due to his leg injury he felt he now needed an automatic and had traded the car in for a new Wolseley 6/99 automatic.
The real point is that I still have the Wolseley, UDG 163, it remains in regular use and I have long wanted to find out more about Mr. Young and to know whether he had children and whether any descendants may have any pictures of the car. I can supply a scan of the letter and a picture of the car and would love to hear back. Also, does anyone know anything about Steels, the car still carries their enamel plate inside the glove box. My Dad loved the Wolseley, it was his pride and joy, as it is now mine, I was 3 1/2 when Dad bought it for £745."
And in August 2023...
"I attach two pictures of the Wolseley, the first was taken in 1961 with me standing beside the car outside the family home in Harrow, Middlesex. The second was taken in 2022 at Stow Lodge Hotel, when we were in the Cotswolds for a Wolseley rally.
Also attached are scanned copies of my father's letter to Robert Young and the latter's reply.
I remain hopeful of discovering something about the man from whom my father bought the car, an N. Drew who seems to have been in the motor trade and either worked for Steels Garages Ltd. or another concern. The car has evidence of rear end damage to the back of the chassis, I know this did not happen under my fathers ownership and I like to think that Robert Young was the sort of man who would have declared this. The car came with a new HMV valve radio fitted for this 'N. Drew' and I understand that he owned the car for a few months only."
